Barbara Kleist is a project manager at the University of Minnesota Institute on Community Integration’s Research and Training Center on Community Living where she works on state and federal projects focused on improving community services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Current projects involve coordinating training, technical assistance and state policy development in direct support workforce development, person-centered practices, positive behavior supports, supported decision making and community inclusion. She is Family Faculty for the MN LEND Families as Teachers program and has served on several state policy committees. She is a member of the Association of Positive Behavior Supports’ Minnesota Network, the Arc and the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD). Barb is a Minnesota licensed attorney, mediator, trained facilitator and sibling with more than 25 years’ of professional experience working to improve community living and the quality of life for people with disabilities.
